Namibia Desert Challenge 2009, a 100km Trek for Women
Introduction
On a misty Namibian morning on the 18th of September 2009, a group of 21 tired and apprehensive women arrived at the International Airport at Windhoek. Their aim was to walk 100 km in the desolate but ruggedly beautiful Damaraland to raise money for Fredericks Foundation. After months of training and fundraising this was the final stage of the Challenge. For many it was their first visit to Africa, the first time they had ever camped and there was a mixture of intrepidation and excitement.
